Demand and Energy Technology Research Consortium
“Innovating energy delivery services to meet 21st century customer needs”
|
The Demand and Energy Technology Research Consortium (DETech) is an independent utility research consortium dedicated to the investigation of innovative "win-win" policies and solutions to promote energy efficiency, demand response, distributed energy and revenue-producing premium products and services.
Energy utilities face unprecedented challenges:
-
Significant increases in energy prices and energy price volatility
-
Growing consumer concerns about the reliability of service
-
Constraints on energy networks (pipes & wires) as a result of aging infrastructure
-
Continuing public activism regarding the siting of new energy facilities ("NIMBY")
-
Advances in technology that increase competition from distributed energy systems
-
Increased awareness of the environmental impacts of energy production
-
Increased regulatory or political activism in response to rising energy prices |
|
DETech is a cost-effective approach to address these challenges through collaboration, research, and innovative policies and solutions. Its success is measured by the ability of utility members to apply the research and come up with practical solutions that meet the needs of customers, regulators and utility managers and stockholders.
|
"DETech provides the best of both worlds; a common sense approach and standing technical research from a very responsive staff. The contacts within this group provide a list of best practices in the utility industry."
Bob Burnette, Director, Energy Conservation and Key Accounts, Dominion |
